Tellabration: Mount Airy, NC

By invitation, Lew shared stories at Mt. Airy NC’s Tellabration!™, local site of an annual, worldwide celebration of storytelling for adults. Other storytellers included Brack Llewellyn, Mike Lowe, Dick Olchak, Su Olchak, Terri Ingalls, Chris Ingalls and Jane Tesh.

Launched in 1987 by veteran yarn-spinner J.G. Pinkerton of Stamford, CT in concert with National Storytelling Network, Tellabration!™ has grown from six Connecticut towns to more than 300 sites internationally, with a combined audience of more than 34,000.

Proceeds are donated to schools, libraries, homeless shelters, Habitat for Humanity, food banks and crisis centers.

In Mt. Airy, Imagine That! Storytellers, which grew out of Tellabration!™, conducts monthly storytellings (open to the public) with opportunities for storytelling artists to network and improve their craft.

In Jan. 2011, celebrated writer and storyteller Terri Ingalls, a founding member of Imagine That! Storytellers, won a NC Arts Council Regional Artist Project Grant, which includes a week in Asheville NC, studying under international storyteller Connie Regan-Blake.

Imagine That! Storytellers meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 at the Mount Airy Public Library.
